The 2024 Lady Bulldogs softball team cemented their place in program history with a remarkable 22-win season, marking their fourth consecutive year of achieving 20 or more victories. This stellar performance was capped by clinching the Class 2, District 6 Championship and advancing to the MSHSAA Quarterfinals.
Despite facing a challenging schedule—where 23 of their opponents boasted winning records—the Lady Bulldogs rose to the occasion, finishing the season ranked #7 in the Class 2 MHSFCA State Rankings. Remarkably, this was achieved with a roster devoid of seniors, highlighting the team’s grit and potential for continued success.
Head coach Aaron Fitzpatrick reflected on the season, sharing, “Winning 22 games against such tough competition was quite an accomplishment. Watching this team come together and perform under pressure was truly special.”
Among the season’s most memorable highlights were their thrilling extra-inning victories in both district games, including a dramatic walk-off home run in the eighth inning to secure their second consecutive district championship. Another cherished moment came on the morning of the quarterfinal game when the team participated in their traditional postseason pregame walk at the field, a ritual that has become a cornerstone of their playoff preparation.
Looking ahead to the 2025 season, the Lady Bulldogs have much to be excited about. With every player returning and a promising group of incoming freshmen joining the fold, Coach Fitzpatrick is optimistic about the team’s prospects. “We’re thrilled to bring back this talented group of girls and to welcome the new players who will add even more depth to an already strong team,” he said.
The Lady Bulldogs’ impressive season has not only set a high standard but also created a foundation for what promises to be another exciting chapter in the program's history.
